About this wine

Quíbia is Ànima Negra’s flagship white, a blend focused on indigenous grapes such as Premsal, Callet and others grown on limestone and clay soils close to the sea on Mallorca. Fermented and raised mostly in stainless steel with time on the lees, it seeks to capture an “Atlantic-Mediterranean” feel: ripe but not heavy fruit, herbal complexity and marked salinity. The 2023 continues the house style of apricot and peach fruit, citrus peel, fennel and a gently phenolic, slightly bitter finish that makes it extremely food-friendly.

Tasting Note

Wine Advocate’s note on the recent vintage describes a lightly golden, Mediterranean white with ripe stone fruit, herbal tones and a fresh, saline palate, finishing with a pleasant, mildly bitter twist.

In the glass

Pale straw with a faint golden hue.

In the nose

White peach, apricot, lemon peel, fennel, bay leaf and a touch of sea breeze.

On the palate

Medium-bodied, textural and very fresh, with stone and citrus fruit, herbal and saline notes and a clean, slightly bitter, grapefruit-pith finish.

Ànima Negra

Ànima Negra works mostly with indigenous Mallorcan varieties like Callet, producing uniquely Mediterranean wines from limestone and clay soils. Low yields, organic farming and a gentle cellar touch yield reds that are pale in colour but intense in flavour, with red fruit, spice and a saline, island character. They’re cult bottles for people who love distinctive terroirs.
