About this wine

Chiara Boschis’ Barbera d’Alba Superiore 2021 is sourced from estate vineyards in Barolo and Monforte, on clay-limestone soils that give both depth and freshness. Yields are kept low and all work is done by hand, with organic farming and meticulous berry selection. The result is a Barbera that moves beyond “everyday” into fine-wine territory: dense cherry and plum fruit, lively acidity, subtle spice and a long, mouthwatering finish. It is built to shine at the table with rich pasta, roast poultry or charcuterie.

Tasting Note

Monica Larner (Wine Advocate, on recent vintages) highlights the estate Barbera for its vibrant red and black cherry fruit, polished tannins and the way oak adds sweetness without masking the purity of fruit.

In the glass

Deep ruby with a youthful purple rim.

In the nose

Juicy black cherry, plum and wild berry with hints of violet, sweet spice and a touch of mocha.

On the palate

Medium- to full-bodied, bright Barbera acidity, ripe fruit at the core and fine, mouth-coating tannins leading to a savoury, sapid finish.

E. Pira & Figli (Chiara Boschis)

E. Pira & Figli, under Chiara Boschis, is one of Barolo’s most respected producers, blending traditional terroir expression with modern precision. Based in Cannubi, the estate produces Nebbiolo wines of fragrance, balance and depth, with fine tannins and layered complexity. Chiara Boschis has been instrumental in shaping a more elegant, refined style of contemporary Barolo.
