About this wine

The 2019 Barolo Cannubi comes from old vines planted on Cannubi’s famous sand-rich marls, giving aromatic lift and finesse. Organic farming, low yields and meticulous hand selection translate into a Barolo of great transparency: rose petals, red cherry, blood orange and fine spice over a core of chalky tannin. The wine spends two years in French oak barriques, mostly used, followed by further bottle ageing before release. It is both hedonistic and precise, with a long life ahead in the cellar.

Tasting Note

Monica Larner (Wine Advocate, 98/100) describes the 2019 Cannubi as intensely fragrant and silky, with redcurrant, rose, blood orange and crushed stone, wrapped in very fine tannins and exceptional balance.

In the glass

Luminous garnet with an orange-tinged rim.

In the nose

Roses, sour cherry, blood orange, sweet herbs and fine spice over a chalky, mineral background.

On the palate

Medium-bodied but intense, with layered red fruit, savoury depth, tight yet polished tannins and a very long, saline finish.

E. Pira & Figli (Chiara Boschis)

E. Pira & Figli, under Chiara Boschis, is one of Barolo’s most respected producers, blending traditional terroir expression with modern precision. Based in Cannubi, the estate produces Nebbiolo wines of fragrance, balance and depth, with fine tannins and layered complexity. Chiara Boschis has been instrumental in shaping a more elegant, refined style of contemporary Barolo.
