About this wine

Millésime 2016 is Franck Bonville in classic Côte des Blancs mode: 100% Chardonnay from Avize Grand Cru, aged for over five years on lees before release. The difficult, cool start to the season was saved by a warm, dry end of summer, producing perfectly ripe grapes with vibrant acidity. In the glass, it opens on white peach, pear and spring flowers, before moving toward brioche, gentle spice and a whisper of menthol. The palate is medium to full-bodied yet beautifully poised, with a vinous core of fruit wrapped in fine, chalky structure and a crystalline, saline finish that feels very “Avize”. A brilliant champagne for lovers of serious Blanc de Blancs that can work both as a gastronomic aperitif and at the table, and with the structure to age further in the cellar.

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate describes the 2016 Millésime as offering delicate aromas of white peach, pear, spring flowers and gentle spice, medium to full body, a round, enveloping texture and a pure, crystalline finish marked by iodine-like minerality.

Creamy yet taut, citrus-driven with chalky, saline length.
