About this wine

Cabernet Sauvignon Turmhof is sourced from selected hillside vineyards in Cortaccia/Kurtatsch, on mixed clay and gravel soils with good diurnal range. The wine is typically fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures with maceration on the skins, then matured in large oak casks and/or older barriques for several months to soften tannins without over-oaking. The 2022 delivers varietal blackcurrant fruit and alpine freshness rather than heaviness, reflecting the cool mountain origin of the grapes.

Tasting Note

Aromas of cassis, black cherry and wild berries mingle with dried herbs, cedar and a hint of green pepper. The palate is medium-bodied, with juicy dark fruit, moderate tannins and a fresh, lightly spicy finish.

In the glass

Deep ruby with garnet hints at the rim.

In the nose

Blackcurrant, blackberry, dried thyme, a touch of bell pepper and subtle oak spice.

On the palate

Medium-bodied and balanced, with juicy dark berries, fine tannins, fresh acidity and a gently savoury, slightly smoky finish.

Tiefenbrunner

Tiefenbrunner is a historic Alto Adige estate combining Alpine precision with polished, modern winemaking. From crisp Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon to structured Cabernet and the iconic Feldmarschall Müller-Thurgau, the wines are defined by purity, freshness and altitude-driven tension. The style is elegant and gastronomic, showcasing Alto Adige’s unique cool-climate character.
