About this wine

Vauprin is a high, sunny slope above Lignorelles, planted about 25 years ago on classic Kimmeridgian limestone. The 2022 vintage is fermented partly in temperature-controlled stainless steel and partly in older barrels, then aged with around 40–50% of the volume in tank and the rest in used French oak for roughly 8 months, adding structure and complexity while preserving freshness and mineral cut. Critics highlight its combination of generous citrus and stone-fruit richness with real drive and length, positioning it as one of the most complete “village” Chablis bottlings on the market.

Tasting Note

The wine shows a nose of cool, almost “cold and saline” lemon and lime, with floral and faintly coconut-oak notes. The palate is mouth-filling and energetic, packed with citrus zest and a touch of bitters, framed by chiselled acidity and a long, saline finish that suggests a few years’ positive evolution in bottle.

In the glass

Pale lemon with a slightly deeper core, showing good viscosity.

In the nose

Lemon and lime zest, white flowers, green pear and a touch of toasted hazelnut and coconut from oak.

On the palate

Concentrated yet vibrant, mixing ripe citrus and white-stone fruit with marked saline minerality, fine oak spice and a long, zesty, almost “chalk-bitten” finish.

Domaine Roland Lavantureux

Domaine Roland Lavantureux is a benchmark family estate in Chablis, known for precise, terroir-driven Chardonnay rooted in classic vinification. Farming key sites such as Vaudésir and Vauprin, the domaine favours clarity, minerality and balance over overt oak influence. The wines show crystalline citrus, saline tension and excellent aging potential, capturing Chablis in its most authentic form.
