About this wine

Feldmarschall von Fenner is sourced from a single, very high-altitude site on the Favogna plateau, one of Europe’s highest Müller-Thurgau vineyards. The cool climate and long ripening season produce low yields and remarkable aromatic complexity. Grapes are hand-harvested, given a short maceration, then fermented mainly in stainless steel with a portion raised in large oak and/or cement before extended ageing on lees. The 2021 has been highly praised for its combination of tropical and stone-fruit richness with piercing acidity and saline, stony depth; James Suckling rates it 93 points and Decanter has awarded gold medals to recent vintages.

Tasting Note

A wonderfully flavourful Müller-Thurgau with aromas of pear, peach and melon layered with fennel, aniseed, jasmine and sage. Full-bodied yet vibrant, it shows juicy orchard fruit, flinty and saline mineral tones and a long, tangy finish that is both fleshy and refreshing.

In the glass

Pale straw with green highlights and a silvery rim.

In the nose

White peach, apricot, lime zest and green melon with jasmine, sage and a flinty, alpine-herb lift.

On the palate

Intense yet weightless: ripe stone fruit and tropical hints carried by racy acidity, saline minerality and a very long, mouth-watering finish.

Tiefenbrunner

Tiefenbrunner is a historic Alto Adige estate combining Alpine precision with polished, modern winemaking. From crisp Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon to structured Cabernet and the iconic Feldmarschall Müller-Thurgau, the wines are defined by purity, freshness and altitude-driven tension. The style is elegant and gastronomic, showcasing Alto Adige’s unique cool-climate character.
