About this wine

“Nero” is Lamoresca’s varietal Nero d’Avola, from 20-year-old bush vines planted around 430–550 m on sandy and siliceous soils. Farming is organic, and in the cellar Filippo works minimally, fermenting with native yeasts and macerating on skins for about two months before ageing for a year in concrete vats and further time in bottle. The wine is medium-plus in colour and body, with notes of cherry, raspberry, spice and dried herbs wrapped around a cool, saline core. Tannins are present but not heavy, giving a firm yet vibrant Sicilian red.
