About this wine

Lucien Le Moine works with tiny, carefully chosen parcels and very long élévage in high-quality barrels. The 2014 Clos de la Roche is a concentrated yet finely detailed expression of this powerful Grand Cru: ripe black cherry and blackberry, violet, peony, exotic spice, incense and a hint of forest floor. The palate is full-bodied but poised, with layered fruit, vibrant acidity and a lattice of fine, chalky tannins that carry a very long finish. It’s a complex, age-worthy Burgundy that needs time to unfurl all its nuance.

In the nose

Black cherry, blackberry, violets, incense, spice and subtle oak toast.

On the palate

Full, structured and vibrant, with concentrated fruit, fine but firm tannins and a long, mineral, spicy finish

Lucien Le Moine

Lucien Le Moine is a micro-négociant specialising exclusively in top-tier premier and grand cru Burgundy from purchased grapes and must. Production is tiny, and élevage is long and meticulous, yielding dense, powerful wines with serious concentration and layered complexity. They’re built for cellaring and appeal to collectors who enjoy a more intense, baroque expression of Burgundy crus.
