About this wine

Aalto is the core wine of Bodegas Aalto, produced from 100% old-vine Tinto Fino (40–100 years) from several high-quality villages across Ribera del Duero. The 2021 shows ripe blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, framed by notes of cedar, vanilla and subtle herbs, with a touch of that chalky Ribera minerality. The texture is creamy but not heavy, with juicy acidity and fine, well-integrated tannins giving it the feel of a modern reserva. It’s approachable young but clearly structured for 10–15 years of development.

Wine Advocate/Vinous notes: cedar and vanilla over blackcurrant and blackberry, indulgent and creamy on the palate with juicy fruit, fine chalky tannins and impressive length.

Aalto

Aalto is a high-profile Ribera del Duero project co-founded by Mariano García, ex-Vega Sicilia winemaker. Old-vine Tempranillo from top sites is vinified into deep, polished wines with rich dark fruit, spice and velvety tannins. Both the main cuvée and PS bottling are modern in feel but retain a strong sense of Ribera identity.
