About this wine

Rougeur Première is a highly individual expression of Meunier, showing the grape in a deeper and more structured rosé form. Salot’s low-intervention cellar philosophy allows the fruit to remain vivid, with indigenous yeasts, minimal sulphur and no dosage shaping an especially pure expression. Strawberry and raspberry sit alongside spice and a subtle savoury dimension, while the palate is supple and velvety with just enough tannic grip to give the wine real presence at the table. Its combination of freshness and vinosity makes it particularly convincing with roast poultry, tuna or lightly spiced dishes.

Tasting Note

Critics describe fresh strawberry and raspberry with spice, followed by a supple, fruity and velvety palate with a light tannic grip, freshness and good length.

Bright salmon-pink with a fine, energetic mousse.

In the nose

Fresh strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant and subtle spice.

On the palate

Supple and vinous, with juicy red fruit, velvety texture, bright freshness and a lightly tannic finish.

Adrien Salot

Adrien Salot is a small-scale grower in the western Vallée de la Marne, farming around 2.2 hectares around Chézy-sur-Marne. An oenologist and artist, he works with a minimalist approach in the cellar, using indigenous yeasts and very little sulphur to create highly individual, terroir-driven Champagnes that emphasise the character of each vintage.
