About this wine

Frénésie is made entirely from old Meunier vines spread across several parcels in Vrigny, rooted predominantly in Thanetian sands with a smaller proportion of Ypresian silts. Lamblot treats the wine with minimal intervention, relying on indigenous yeasts and avoiding chaptalisation, fining and filtration. Stainless steel and a range of oak vessels build texture without compromising the expressive fruit, while zero dosage keeps the finished Champagne taut. The result combines poached pear, stone fruit, brioche, hazelnut and chamomile with mint, citrus and a striking chalky finish.

Tasting Note

Critics describe citrus zest, crisp stone fruit, elderflower and freshly baked bread alongside dried pear, chamomile, crushed flowers and mint, with impressive concentration, racy acidity and a chalky finish.

In the glass

Light gold with a fine, persistent mousse.

In the nose

Poached pear, citrus zest, elderflower, warm brioche, hazelnut and chamomile.

On the palate

Powerful and vinous yet taut, with orchard fruit, nuts, minty freshness, racy acidity and a long chalky finish.

A. Lamblot

Alexandre Lamblot is one of the new-wave grower names in Champagne, working small parcels with a decidedly artisanal mindset. Organic-leaning farming, fermentations in oak and a minimalist approach in the cellar yield intensely characterful wines that are vinous, textural and often quite dry. His parcellaire cuvées, including Les Cochenes and Intuition, are sought after for their combination of energy, complexity and distinct terroir voice.
