About this wine

This tiny-production cuvée comes entirely from the Les Clos parcel in Vrigny, planted on Ypresian sands, sandstone and calcareous clay. Lamblot’s cellar work is deliberately uncompromising: indigenous yeasts, natural malolactic fermentation, no chaptalisation, no cold stabilisation, no fining or filtration and extremely low total sulphur. Manual riddling and disgorgement à la volée complete an artisanal process designed to leave the site as unaltered as possible. The finished Champagne is broad and vinous yet finely tensioned, with orchard fruit, citrus and mineral complexity over a bone-dry finish.

Tasting Note

Critics describe fresh and mature apple, candied citrus and mineral complexity, with a rounded, fleshy texture balanced by remarkable freshness and definition.

In the glass

Deep straw-gold with a fine mousse.

In the nose

Fresh apple, baked apple, candied citron, mineral notes and subtle fermentation complexity.

On the palate

Fleshy and rounded yet remarkably pure, with orchard fruit, citrus tension and a long mineral finish.

A. Lamblot

Alexandre Lamblot is one of the new-wave grower names in Champagne, working small parcels with a decidedly artisanal mindset. Organic-leaning farming, fermentations in oak and a minimalist approach in the cellar yield intensely characterful wines that are vinous, textural and often quite dry. His parcellaire cuvées, including Les Cochenes and Intuition, are sought after for their combination of energy, complexity and distinct terroir voice.
