About this wine

Elio Altare helped define the modern Barolo style, and Arborina is one of his signature wines. In the warm 2011 vintage, the wine shows lush red and black cherry fruit, sweet spices, cocoa and floral notes on the nose. Short rotary fermentations create a supple, approachable texture, while ageing in French barriques adds polish and vanilla-tinged complexity. It’s a hedonistic, open Barolo that still retains enough structure and acidity to age further, but is already very pleasurable.

Elio Altare

A revolutionary who reshaped Barolo. Elio Altare introduced shorter macerations, small barrels, and a focus on purity and finesse long before it became common. The result is Barolo with vibrant fruit, silky texture, and immediate charm, yet still capable of aging. The estate continues to refine this elegant, modern approach with clarity and intent.
