About this wine

Montosoli is Altesino’s flagship cru, perched on one of Montalcino’s most celebrated hillsides. In 2010 it combines pure red cherry and plum fruit with floral, herbal and gently earthy nuances, wrapped in a firm yet refined structure. Elegant, vertical and savory, it’s a textbook example of terroir-driven Brunello, already complex but with plenty still in reserve. A brilliant bottle for cellaring or for a “big” Sangiovese dinner.

Tasting Note

Wine Spectator and other leading critics highlight expressive cherry, strawberry and plum notes with hints of herbs, eucalyptus and tobacco, framed by firm, well-integrated tannins and a long, structured finish.

In the glass

Deep, vibrant ruby with garnet highlights at the rim.

In the nose

Lifted red and black cherry, wild strawberry, dried herbs, tobacco and a touch of balsamic spice.

On the palate

Medium-full bodied, precise and energetic, with pure red fruit, savory undertones and long, finely grained tannins.

Altesino

A leading name in modern Montalcino. Altesino combines careful vineyard selection with polished, balanced winemaking. The wines show ripe Sangiovese fruit, refined tannins, and measured oak. Clean, structured, and consistently reliable. An estate that captures Brunello’s classical core with contemporary finesse.
