About this wine

Poggio Antico’s Riserva comes from selected parcels and older vines, vinified in a more traditional way than Altero. Expect deeper fruit, more pronounced earth and leather notes, and a firmer backbone of tannin and acidity. In 2015 it’s generous but serious, aimed at drinkers who appreciate classic, cellar-worthy Brunello.

Tasting Note

Critic and importer notes typically mention ripe red and black cherry, leather, spice and balsamic tones over a full, structured palate with long, savory tannins.

In the glass

Dense ruby turning slowly toward garnet.

In the nose

Dark cherry, dried rose, leather, tobacco, spice and underbrush.

On the palate

Full-bodied, firm and ageworthy, with concentrated fruit and long, grippy tannins.

Poggio Antico

A high-altitude estate delivering clean, precise, and elegant Brunello. Poggio Antico’s wines show bright fruit, refined structure, and a lifted profile thanks to their elevation. The style is modern in polish but classical in balance. Consistent and beautifully composed.
