About this wine

Bimbache Tinto is produced from organically farmed parcels on El Hierro, primarily Listán Negro with Listán Prieto and Verijadiego Tinto, grown on volcanic soils swept by Atlantic winds. The 2023 vintage continues the estate’s low-intervention philosophy: hand harvest, spontaneous fermentation and ageing with a light touch of oak, aiming for drinkability rather than power. The wine combines bright red and dark berries with floral, herbal and peppery notes, a refreshing line of acidity and a distinct salty-mineral undertone that speaks clearly of its oceanic origin.

Tasting Note

Wine Advocate notes an aromatic, fruit-driven red with red and black berry fruit, floral and herbal top notes, a spicy edge and a light, juicy palate framed by fine tannins and marked volcanic minerality.

In the glass

Bright, translucent ruby with a slight violet hue.

In the nose

Red cherry, wild strawberry, subtle blackcurrant, dried herbs, pepper, violets and a hint of volcanic smoke.

On the palate

Juicy and agile, with crunchy red fruit, savoury spice, fine powdery tannins, lively acidity and a saline, refreshing finish.

Bimbache

Bimbache Vinícola is a tiny, cutting-edge project on El Hierro, the smallest and wildest of the Canary Islands. Founded in 2018 by Rayco Fernández, it revives old mixed vineyards of native varieties on rugged volcanic slopes, using organic, low-intervention methods. The wines – often field blends – are salty, aromatic and full of Atlantic energy, showcasing one of Spain’s most remote terroirs.
