About this wine

Castiglion del Bosco sits in the wild beauty of the Val d’Orcia and crafts a contemporary but clearly Brunello-rooted style. The 2018 shows ripe cherry and blackcurrant layered with notes of licorice, herbs and subtle earthy tones. Oak is present but integrated, adding spice and texture without overwhelming the fruit. A generous, crowd-pleasing Brunello that’s ready to drink yet structured enough for mid-term cellaring.

Tasting Note

Wine Advocate describes it as robust and powerful, with dark fruit and blackcurrant moving into savory tones of toasted spice, black olive, earth and “rusty nail”, on a medium to medium-rich frame.

In the glass

Bright, medium-deep ruby with good clarity.

In the nose

Ripe red and black berries, red licorice, dried herbs, warm earth and a touch of oak spice.

On the palate

Medium-full, with juicy fruit, polished tannins and a savory, slightly earthy finish.

Castiglion del Bosco

A historic Montalcino estate producing Brunello with clarity and lift. Castiglion del Bosco focuses on vineyard expression, sustainable farming, and restrained oak. The wines are elegant, aromatic, and built on fine tannins. A polished yet grounded interpretation of Montalcino.
