About this wine

Bellevue is a stony, higher-elevation plateau in Morgon, with clay-granitic soils that favour perfume and finesse over sheer power. In the cooler 2024 vintage, Bouland’s Bellevue Cailloux leans into its floral, red-fruited side: think red cherry, cranberry and raspberry, laced with violets and a dusting of spice. The palate is medium-bodied and elegant, with juicy acidity, fine yet persistent tannins and a subtle, stony finish that underlines the terroir. This is a superb introduction to serious Morgon for Burgundy lovers who prize tension and aromatics. Ideal with roast poultry, veal, charcuterie and grilled vegetables.

Tasting Note

Producer notes describe an elegant, cool-year Morgon with aromas of red cherry, cranberry, blue flowers and subtle earthy spice. On the palate it’s medium-bodied, with bright acidity, fine chalky tannins and a long, mineral, gently savory finish that reflects the stony “cailloux” soils of Bellevue.

Daniel Bouland

A reference point for serious Beaujolais. Daniel Bouland crafts deeply fruited, structured Gamay from excellent old-vine parcels in Morgon and Chiroubles. Fermentation is traditional, oak is neutral, and purity is the priority. The wines are vibrant, layered, and capable of aging. Proof that Beaujolais can be both joyful and profound.

Vinification

Gamay from the stony Bellevue plateau is hand-picked, fermented with indigenous yeasts and largely whole clusters, then aged in cement and stainless-steel vats with no new oak influence.
