About this wine

Fossati was Bussolo’s first Barolo bottling and remains one of his key crus. The vineyard sits in La Morra on calcareous soils that deliver both perfume and power. The 2021 shows a complex bouquet of red and black cherry, rose petals, liquorice, tobacco and subtle oak spice. On the palate, it’s concentrated and tightly coiled, with layered fruit, chalky tannins and a long, savoury finish that promises significant evolution in bottle. This is a collector-level Barolo that will reward patience, sitting stylistically between classic La Morra silkiness and a more structured, Voerzio-influenced density.

Cesare Bussolo

A protégé of Roberto Voerzio, Cesare Bussolo is one of La Morra’s rising stars, crafting finely etched Barolo and Barbera. Tiny yields, careful selection and a gentle extraction aim to highlight purity of fruit, florality and silky tannins rather than brute power. His wines feel contemporary yet deeply rooted in traditional Piedmont terroir.
