About this wine

Bianco della Castellada is La Castellada’s flagship Collio Bianco, a field blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc grown on the marl and sandstone “ponca” soils of Oslavia. The 2018 ferments spontaneously in wood with around four days of maceration on the skins and then matures for about 12 months in oak, resulting in an amber-tinged, full-bodied wine with great texture and character. Aromas include exotic fruits, vanilla, aromatic herbs, sunflower seeds, tobacco, mushrooms and dried flowers, while the palate is powerful, structured and savoury, with a long, slightly tannic finish.

La Castellada

La Castellada is a small, family estate in Collio, known for complex, often skin-contact whites from local and international varieties. Extended lees aging and a thoughtful use of oxidative handling produce deep, textural wines with savoury and herbal nuances. They are serious, gastronomic bottles that reward
