About this wine

Légende Bonnetta is Clos de la Bonnette’s top Condrieu, sourced from the oldest organically farmed Viognier vines on the historic Côte Bonnette slope. The wine is rich and layered, with notes of ripe pear, mango, nectarine and jasmine, framed by a subtle, well-integrated barrel élevage and a distinct saline edge. Despite its concentration and opulence, it stays balanced and poised thanks to vibrant acidity and a fine phenolic grip, making it as suitable for cellar ageing as for pairing with lobster, classic French sauce dishes or luxurious poultry. This is a Condrieu for collectors who like texture, depth and detail rather than simple aromatic fireworks.

Tasting Note

Matt Walls (Decanter) characterises the 2022 Légende Bonnetta as a very rich, full-bodied and concentrated Condrieu, with sweetly ripe fruit, no new oak, a citric bite and noble bitters adding freshness, and a long, saline, firm finish; Alistair Cooper MW (JancisRobinson.com) highlights golden orchard and stone fruits over a powerful yet mineral palate.

In the glass

Deep golden straw with brilliant, viscous legs.

In the nose

Intense aromas of ripe pear, mango, peach, honeysuckle and a touch of vanilla and ginger.

On the palate

Voluminous and creamy yet structured, with exotic fruit, citrus peel, savoury spice and a firmly saline, long, mouth-coating finish.

Domaine Clos de la Bonnette

A small, committed estate working steep terraces in Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie. Domaine Clos de la Bonnette farms organically and vinifies with restraint to preserve fruit purity and site character. Viognier shows freshness and texture without heaviness; Syrah is floral, supple, and mineral. Authentic, artisanal Rhône with real finesse.
