About this wine

Roches d’Arbuel is Clos de la Bonnette’s Condrieu from the younger parcels on the steep Côte Bonnette terraces above the Rhône. Farmed organically on granite and mica-schist, the Viognier here gives a vibrant, less opulent expression than the domaine’s Légende cuvée: think ripe peach, apricot and white flowers over a taut, saline backbone. The style is rich enough for gastronomy but never heavy, with the estate’s low-intervention approach (native yeasts, minimal sulphur, careful oak) keeping the wine precise and energetic. A superb introduction to top artisan Condrieu that will shine with refined fish dishes, scallops or poultry in cream sauce.

Tasting Note

For the 2022 vintage, Alistair Cooper MW on JancisRobinson.com describes Roches d’Arbuel as a dense yet vibrant Condrieu with ripe stone fruits, almondy complexity and a persistent saline line that keeps the opulent fruit in check.

In the glass

Bright straw-gold with green highlights.

In the nose

Ripe peach and apricot, jasmine, a hint of banana peel and almond.

On the palate

Silky and mouth-coating with juicy stone fruit, citrus zest and a savoury, saline finish that brings freshness.

Domaine Clos de la Bonnette

A small, committed estate working steep terraces in Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie. Domaine Clos de la Bonnette farms organically and vinifies with restraint to preserve fruit purity and site character. Viognier shows freshness and texture without heaviness; Syrah is floral, supple, and mineral. Authentic, artisanal Rhône with real finesse.
