About this wine

Cupano farms organically on the southwestern slopes of Montalcino and vinifies with minimal intervention. The 2018 Brunello shows ripe blackberry, plum and dried cherry, wrapped in notes of cola, grilled herbs, spice and undergrowth. Texture is dense yet vibrant, with a clearly artisanal feel and no excess gloss. A serious, characterful Brunello that will appeal to fans of traditional and natural-leaning Sangiovese.

Tasting Note

Wine Advocate notes dried fruit, cola, grilled herb and earthy nuances over a full-bodied, rich palate with ripe tannins and good length.

In the glass

Deep ruby with a slightly opaque core.

In the nose

Black cherry, dried plum, balsamic notes, sweet spice, tobacco and Mediterranean herbs.

On the palate

Full-bodied, layered and savory, with ripe dark fruit, earthy complexity and firm, mouth-coating tannins.

Cupano

A small, artisanal estate crafting rich, characterful Brunello. Cupano favors low yields, long élevage, and minimal intervention. The wines show dark fruit, depth, and a smoky, savory complexity, supported by strong structure. Distinctive and age-worthy—Cupano has its own voice in the region.
