About this wine

Adrien Dhondt works organically with low yields, fermenting base wines in oak and bottling with very low dosage. Les Nogers comes from old vines on the chalky slopes of Cuis in the Côte des Blancs. Recent releases show ripe citrus and orchard fruit, white flowers, almond and fresh bread, with a powerful, structured palate, racy acidity and a long, saline finish. It’s a grower Champagne that behaves more like a fine white Burgundy with bubbles.

Tasting Note

William Kelley describes Les Nogers as opening with citrus oil, crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, green almond and fresh bread; the palate is full-bodied and vinous yet bright and chiselled, with concentrated fruit, lively acids, chalky grip and a long, penetrating, saline finish.

In the glass

Pale gold, very fine persistent bead.

In the nose

Lemon oil, pear, white flowers, almond, fresh baguette and chalk.

On the palate

Vinous and concentrated yet razor-sharp, with layered citrus and orchard fruit, firm chalky structure and a long, saline, mouth-coating finish.

Dhondt-Grellet

Dhondt-Grellet is a highly regarded grower estate producing incisive, terroir-driven Champagnes from old-vine Chardonnay and Pinot. Organic farming, low dosage and élevage in oak and steel lend the wines depth and a thrilling, saline edge. Cuvées like Les Nogers and Les Terres Fines have become favourites among Champagne aficionados.
