About this wine

Dellchen is one of Dönnhoff’s most characterful Grosses Gewächs sites, a steep terraced vineyard of slate and volcanic porphyry. 2020 has optimal ripeness at low yields, it's a wine of great finesse and mineral energy rather than simple power. This is a serious dry Riesling for langoustine, white fish, veal or cellaring.

Tasting Note

Critics describe the 2020 as combining citrus and yellow fruit with smoky mineral notes, great finesse and a long saline finish.

In the glass

Pale lemon with green reflections. This is consistent with elite dry Riesling style.

In the nose

Mandarin, nectarine, citrus peel and smoky mineral notes.

On the palate

Fine-boned but intense, with concentrated citrus and yellow fruit, vivid acidity and a salty finish.

Dönnhoff

Dönnhoff is a benchmark estate in Germany’s Nahe region, producing some of the finest Rieslings in the world. The wines are celebrated for their precision, purity and strong sense of terroir, ranging from bone-dry Grosses Gewächs to noble sweet styles. Across the range, they combine crystalline fruit, vibrant acidity and exceptional aging potential.
