About this wine

Rennina 2015 comes from three parcels surrounding the Pieve Santa Restituta church in the south-west of Montalcino, all on poor, stony soils that naturally limit yields. In this “fairytale” vintage, the wine combines intense yet pure Sangiovese fruit – dried cherry and berry, blood orange, tea and floral notes – with Gaja’s hallmark polish. The palate is full-bodied but incredibly tight and refined, with superbly fine tannins, juicy acidity and a long, layered finish that runs on for minutes. It’s a Brunello that bridges classic terroir expression and modern precision, and one of the most acclaimed releases ever from this estate.

Tasting Note

James Suckling (99/100) describes the 2015 Rennina as “extremely perfumed and pretty with dried berry, orange peel and fruit tea on the nose. Full-bodied, extremely tight and refined with superb tannin quality that shows polish, finesse and beauty… It goes on for minutes on the palate. One for the cellar.”

In the glass

Deep, burnished ruby with excellent concentration and a faint garnet rim.

In the nose

Dried cherries and berries, orange peel, fruit tea, forest fruits, delicate spice and floral notes with a hint of herbs.

On the palate

Full-bodied, tight and refined, with vivid red fruit, mineral and herbal nuances, silky but powerful tannins and a very long, juicy, tannic finish.

Gaja

Gaja’s Tuscan projects, Ca’Marcanda in Bolgheri and Pieve Santa Restituta in Montalcino, combine Tuscan warmth with the precision that defines Gaja. The wines are polished, structured, and deeply detailed, showing Mediterranean fruit wrapped in fine tannins. A seamless blend of regional identity and technical finesse.
