About this wine

Hatteso 2012 is Garbole’s flagship Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva, crafted from meticulously selected Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grown on the rocky hills of eastern Valpolicella. The grapes are dried for months in traditional fruttai, intensifying sugars and flavours before a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. The wine then spends many years in oak – various sources mention around five to six years – followed by bottle ageing, creating a dense, almost port-like texture without losing freshness. In the glass you’ll find rich notes of plum and cherry jam, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, sweet vanilla, toasted nuts and a touch of fresh mint, carried by a full-bodied, warm and velvety palate with a very long, enveloping finish.

Tasting Note

WinesCritic.com, tasting the 2010 Hatteso Riserva, describes a powerful sweetness with blue plum, hazelnut and caramel notes, persistent sweet vanilla, full body, soft ripe tannins and an enveloping finish – a profile that fits the style of this cuvée across vintages.

In the glass

Deep ruby, shading to garnet

In the nose

Dried plum, cherry jam, vanilla, cocoa

On the palate

Full, warm, velvety, long and sweet-spiced

Garbole

An unconventional, high-impact project from Veneto focused on powerful, meticulously crafted reds. Hatteso is dense, polished, and richly textured, made with obsessive attention to detail. A bold, modern style aimed at complexity, concentration, and long aging. Distinctive and unapologetically ambitious.
