About this wine

Steinmetz’s entry Pinot shows how exciting Mosel Spätburgunder has become. The 2022 offers bright red cherry, cranberry and raspberry with floral notes, a touch of smoke and spice from old barrels and a subtle earthy, slate-driven nuance. The palate is light to medium-bodied, with crisp acidity, fine tannins and a very drinkable, almost crunchy texture that makes it as at home with charcuterie as with roast poultry.

Günther Steinmetz

Günther Steinmetz is a rising star in the Mosel, based in Brauneberg and working a patchwork of steep, slatey vineyards. While best known for Riesling, the estate also produces beautifully lifted Pinot Noir, all with a low-intervention touch, wild ferments and modest sulphur. The style is energetic and finely etched, combining Mosel’s classic minerality with a more contemporary sense of vibrancy and purity.
