About this wine

Jean Fournier’s Gevrey-Chambertin 2022 comes from selected parcels in this famous Côte de Nuits village, vinified with the same low-intervention philosophy that has made the domaine a reference in Marsannay. The wine shows a deep ruby colour and aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry, joined by hints of sous-bois and subtle toast. On the palate it is fuller-bodied than the Bourgogne and Marsannay wines, with more structured tannins and length, suggesting a drinking window of up to a decade from vintage. It’s a classic Gevrey expression: muscular but not rustic, ideal with roast lamb, game birds or matured cheeses.

Tasting Note

Critics describe the Gevrey-Chambertin as having a fresh, fruity nose of blackcurrant and undergrowth, with good ageing potential and a superb overall impression.

In the glass

Deep ruby with a slightly purple rim.

In the nose

Blackcurrant and blackberry with red cherry, earthy notes, spice and a hint of oak.

On the palate

Plush yet structured, with dark berries framed by firm, ripe tannins and a savoury, earthy finish.

Jean Fournier

Based in Marsannay, Domaine Jean Fournier is one of the key names behind the appellation’s rising reputation. The estate is organically certified and often works with a light touch in the cellar to highlight juicy, red-fruited Pinot and vibrant Aligoté. Across the range – from Bourgogne to top Marsannay lieux-dits – the wines combine freshness, structure and a distinctly savoury, terroir-led profile.
