About this wine

La Garenne sits high on the slope above Puligny with thin, rocky soils that naturally give wines of cut and energy. Colin’s 2023 shows lemon, lime, white peach and floral notes, underpinned by a strong mineral core and discreet oak spices. It’s focused, ageworthy Puligny with real finesse.

Tasting Note

Early reviews from Burgundy specialists highlight its tension, chalky structure and long, saline finish, in line with the climat’s reputation

In the glass

Pale lemon-gold.

In the nose

Lemon and lime zest, white peach, acacia, crushed stone.

On the palate

Medium body, tightly coiled citrus and stone fruit with high acidity and a very mineral, persistent finish.

Joseph Colin

Joseph Colin, from the Colin family of Chassagne, has quickly built a strong reputation for finely chiselled white Burgundies. Working primarily in Saint-Aubin, Chassagne and Puligny, he favours low yields, careful pressing and restrained bâtonnage to preserve tension and minerality. The resulting Chardonnays are vivid and precise, with citrus, stone-fruit and subtle reduction wrapped around a strong, saline backbone.
