About this wine

Les Frionnes is a classic Saint-Aubin premier cru with a mix of clay and limestone giving both flesh and tension. The 2023 shows lemon, white peach and a touch of spice, with a firm acid line and long, mineral finish. It balances generosity and precision very well.

Tasting Note

Burgundy critics describe it as one of the most complete 1er Crus in the range, combining ripe fruit, vibrant acidity and chalky grip.

In the glass

Medium lemon.

In the nose

Lemon, white peach, blossom, subtle toasted note.

On the palate

Medium-plus body, ripe citrus/stone fruit, lively acidity and a long, stony finish.

Joseph Colin

Joseph Colin, from the Colin family of Chassagne, has quickly built a strong reputation for finely chiselled white Burgundies. Working primarily in Saint-Aubin, Chassagne and Puligny, he favours low yields, careful pressing and restrained bâtonnage to preserve tension and minerality. The resulting Chardonnays are vivid and precise, with citrus, stone-fruit and subtle reduction wrapped around a strong, saline backbone.
