About this wine

Cuvée Charles Maxime blends several top Meursault lieux-dits to create a village wine with almost 1er Cru presence. The 2023 is shaped by ripe pear, apple and citrus, layered with hazelnut, buttered pastry and a fine chalky edge. Texturally it is generous and creamy but cut by vibrant acidity, giving both immediate pleasure and the potential to age 8–10 years. This is classic, serious Meursault that still feels approachable and charming. Ideal with roast chicken, turbot, scallops or richer vegetable dishes.

Tasting Note

Across recent vintages, Morris has described Charles Maxime as one of Latour-Giraud’s star village wines, praising its concentration, energy and balance of ripe fruit with incisive acidity, and awarding it very high scores (up to 5 stars).

In the glass

Medium lemon-gold.

In the nose

Ripe pear, golden apple, lemon curd, hazelnut, a touch of butter and chalk.

On the palate

Creamy and mouthfilling yet fresh, with layered orchard fruit, subtle oak spice and a long, mineral, slightly saline finish.

Latour-Giraud

Latour-Giraud is a classic Meursault domaine, known for serious, age-worthy whites from top village and premier cru sites such as Genevrières and Bouchères. The style is generous yet controlled: ripe fruit and creamy textures balanced by real drive, length and a fine line of acidity. Long lees aging and quality oak add complexity without smothering the wines’ underlying stony character; their reds from Pommard provide a savoury, structured counterpoint.
