About this wine

Cuvée des Pierres is produced from particularly stony parcels within Genevrières, bottled separately to highlight their extra mineral drive. In 2023 the wine shows great depth of citrus and stone fruit, layered with smoke, struck flint and savoury spice. The palate is compact and tightly coiled, with a dense core of fruit and piercing acidity, promising considerable development with time. This is not an easy, showy Meursault but a serious, ageworthy white that will unfold beautifully over 10–20 years.

Tasting Note

Morris calls the 2022 Cuvée des Pierres one of the finest white Burgundies he has tasted from the domaine, emphasising its extraordinary intensity, crystalline minerality and impeccable balance; the 2023 is expected to follow a similar profile.

In the glass

Bright, concentrated lemon-gold.

In the nose

Grapefruit zest, ripe citrus, white peach, flint, smoke and crushed rock.

On the palate

Highly concentrated and linear with a dense, stony core, vibrant acidity and a very long, saline finish.

Latour-Giraud

Latour-Giraud is a classic Meursault domaine, known for serious, age-worthy whites from top village and premier cru sites such as Genevrières and Bouchères. The style is generous yet controlled: ripe fruit and creamy textures balanced by real drive, length and a fine line of acidity. Long lees aging and quality oak add complexity without smothering the wines’ underlying stony character; their reds from Pommard provide a savoury, structured counterpoint.
