About this wine

From the Premier Cru La Refène, this wine shows a more lifted, red-fruited character than the village cuvée. Aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry and red cherry mingle with blood orange, spice and a subtle earthiness. The palate is more layered and refined, with a core of sweet red fruit wrapped in ripe but firm tannins and vivid acidity, giving a long, energetic finish. This is a very complete Pommard 1er Cru that will reward 10–15 years of cellaring.

Tasting Note

Morris describes an “explosion” of red berry fruit with extra depth and a savoury, blood-orange nuance, supported by a well-built structure of tannin and acidity.

In the glass

Deep but bright ruby.

In the nose

Raspberry, strawberry and red cherry, with blood orange, spice and a hint of forest floor.

On the palate

Medium-plus body with concentrated red fruit, firm but refined tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, savoury, energetic finish.

Latour-Giraud

Latour-Giraud is a classic Meursault domaine, known for serious, age-worthy whites from top village and premier cru sites such as Genevrières and Bouchères. The style is generous yet controlled: ripe fruit and creamy textures balanced by real drive, length and a fine line of acidity. Long lees aging and quality oak add complexity without smothering the wines’ underlying stony character; their reds from Pommard provide a savoury, structured counterpoint.
