About this wine

Champs Canet sits high on the slope in Puligny and is known for producing precise, mineral wines. Latour-Giraud’s 2023 (following the style of recent vintages) combines lemon and ripe peach fruit with floral notes and a strong chalky imprint. The palate is sleek and medium-bodied, built on a thread of acidity and minerality rather than sheer richness, finishing long and slightly austere in a very Puligny way. It’s a superb partner for oysters, scallops, turbot or simply roasted chicken with morels, and will age comfortably for 8–12 years.

Tasting Note

Burghound describes fine volume and “super-sleek, strikingly textured” medium-weight flavours with an appealing mineral streak and a lightly austere, persistent finish, underlining its classical Puligny character.

In the glass

Pale straw with green tints.

In the nose

Lemon zest, white peach, white flowers, crushed stones and a discreet toastiness.

On the palate

Linear and pure with citrus and juicy stone fruit framed by chalky minerality and a long, slightly saline, subtly austere finish.

Latour-Giraud

Latour-Giraud is a classic Meursault domaine, known for serious, age-worthy whites from top village and premier cru sites such as Genevrières and Bouchères. The style is generous yet controlled: ripe fruit and creamy textures balanced by real drive, length and a fine line of acidity. Long lees aging and quality oak add complexity without smothering the wines’ underlying stony character; their reds from Pommard provide a savoury, structured counterpoint.
