About this wine

L’Aphrodisiaque is Léclapart’s top white cuvée, drawn from old-vine Premier Cru parcels around Trépail and made without dosage. It’s typically a Chardonnay-dominant blend (sometimes with Pinot Noir) fermented and aged in oak, with long lees ageing and minimal intervention. The wine shows intense aromas of ripe apple and pear, brioche, nuts and chalk, with herbal and flinty notes. On the palate it is concentrated, dry and deeply vinous, with fine bubbles, pronounced saline minerality and a long, sapid finish. It’s a Champagne for the table rather than the aperitif.

David Leclapart

David Léclapart is a cult grower in Trépail, farming his vineyards biodynamically and vinifying each cuvée with a strong sense of individuality. Fermentations in oak, minimal dosage and a non-interventionist approach give Champagnes that are pure, vinous and highly expressive of terroir. The wines are sought after for their combination of energy, complexity and almost Burgundian texture.
