About this wine

Dalmau Reserva 2019 comes from the Canajas vineyard on the Ygay estate, a high-altitude site planted in 1950 on clay and stony soils. The blend in 2019 is predominantly Tempranillo with Cabernet Sauvignon and Graciano, delivering a darker, more international style while retaining Rioja identity. The wine shows dense black cherry and plum fruit, coffee and cocoa notes, and a marked mineral streak, with substantial but polished tannins and impressive length. It is an opulent yet structured Rioja built for long cellaring.

Tasting Note

Owen Bargreen describes the 2019 Dalmau as “seamless” and “absolutely stunning,” with dense dark fruits, coffee grounds, toasty oak and salty soil notes, powerful structure and a 20-year ageing horizon.

In the glass

Opaque ruby-purple with a viscous rim.

In the nose

Black cherry and blackberry, espresso, dark chocolate, graphite and toasted French oak.

On the palate

Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with ripe dark fruit, firm yet ripe tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, spicy, mineral finish.

Marques de Murrieta

Marqués de Murrieta is one of Rioja’s historic estates, combining classic sensibilities with a more structured, contemporary feel. From the iconic Castillo Ygay to modern cuvées like Dalmau, the wines showcase fine oak integration, ripe fruit and excellent balance. The estate has become a benchmark for Rioja that bridges tradition and modernity.
