About this wine

The 2019 Margheria shows why this cru is so highly regarded, combining power and elegance. Antonio Galloni (Vinous) describes it as a “classic Serralunga Barolo,” deep and savoury with red/purplish fruit, herbs and mineral nuances. The palate is concentrated but beautifully balanced, with long oak ageing adding subtle spice and texture without dominating the fruit. This is a serious, ageworthy Barolo that will benefit from time in the cellar but already hints at great complexity.

Tasting Note

Galloni notes a compelling mix of red/purplish fruit, sage, mint, lavender, spice and iron, calling 2019 Margheria a firm, classically built Barolo with much to offer once the structure relaxes.

In the glass

Deep garnet, youthful rim.

In the nose

Red/purple fruit, herbs, iron, floral spice.

On the palate

Structured, savoury, long, with refined tannins.

Massolino

A cornerstone of Serralunga. Massolino’s Barolo captures the village’s depth and power but with impressive refinement. The estate combines careful farming, traditional vinification, and patient cask aging. The wines show structure, mineral tension, and potential for long aging. Consistent, reliable, and deeply rooted in classical Barolo craft.
