About this wine

Le Grillon “21” is Domaine Méa’s table-first cuvée: vinified for depth (extended time on fine lees before tirage) and then aged long in bottle for harmony and detail. The dosage is Extra-Brut (3 g/L)—enough to round edges, not enough to blur terroir. Expect a deeper, more vinous expression than entry grower Champagne, with lemon oils, green apple bite, and a subtly bready/meringue note from extended lees contact.

Tasting Note

A taut, chalk-lined Extra Brut built around Chardonnay with Pinot Noir depth: lemon zest, white peach, brioche and crushed oyster shell. Energetic on entry, then broadens through the mid-palate before finishing clean, dry and mineral.

In the glass

Deeper straw-gold; persistent, fine mousse.

In the nose

Burnished lemon, green apple, and leesy patisserie tones.

On the palate

Taut and characterful; fine lees texture and a saline, mouthwatering finish.

Domaine Méa

A long-established family estate rooted in Louvois (Grand Cru), with vineyard holdings spread across both the southern and northern faces of the Montagne de Reims. Today it is led by Sophie Milesi (with her husband Franck), stewarding an estate of nearly 8 hectares and a multi-village mosaic that includes Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites. The style aims for precision and “gastronomic” freshness, often highlighting the cooler north-facing expression in key cuvées.
