About this wine

From old vines in Echézeaux on clay-limestone soils, Mongeard-Mugneret’s 2020 is a powerful yet polished Pinot Noir. The robe is a pure, vibrant ruby-garnet; the nose opens with cherries, raspberries and blackcurrants, shading into vanilla, toast and smoked nuances from generous new oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, with succulent fruit, fine but abundant tannins and vibrant acidity that carries the finish. With time, it develops notes of undergrowth, truffle and game, but even young it already shows the pedigree of a top Grand Cru.

In the glass

Bright, saturated ruby-garnet, youthful and limpid.

In the nose

Red cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant with violets, vanilla, toasted oak and a hint of smoke.

On the palate

Full-bodied and rich, with ripe red and dark fruits, suave tannins, lively acidity and a long, savory, spicy finish.

Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret

Mongeard-Mugneret is a long-established Vosne-Romanée family domaine farming an enviable mosaic of village, premier and grand cru sites. Their style is generous and textural, often with a slightly more opulent, spicy expression of Pinot Noir. The wines are approachable in youth yet have enough structure to evolve gracefully in the cellar.
