About this wine

The 2021 growing season in the Alps was slightly cooler and more classical than 2020, giving a Patlù with a touch more tension and red-fruit focus. Expect pale ruby colour and aromas of sour cherry, redcurrant, rose, violets and alpine herbs, with a distinct stony undertone. The palate is linear and precise: bright acidity, finely chiselled tannins and a long, herbal-mineral finish. It’s a wine that rewards air and is ideal for those who like their Nebbiolo in the more ethereal, Burgundy-leaning register.

Tasting Note

Critics stress cool, fresh red fruit, floral lift and fine, chalky tannins with intense mineral length.

In the glass

Pale ruby, very transparent and limpid.

In the nose

Sour cherry, redcurrant, rose petal, herbs, crushed stone.

On the palate

Taut, high-acid, fine tannins, long, herbal-mineral finish.

Muraje

Muraje is a tiny, highly artisanal project in Carema, working steep, terraced vineyards at the northern edge of Piedmont. The focus is on pure, high-altitude Nebbiolo that’s pale, aromatic and wonderfully tense, more about perfume and minerality than weight. Low intervention in the cellar lets the mountain character shine through.
