About this wine

Astral is Família Nin Ortiz’s playful side: a biodynamic pet-nat rosé made from Garnatxa (with a dash of white Montonega) grown in cooler sites in Penedès. Grapes are harvested early for acidity, fermented with native yeasts and bottled before the end of fermentation to capture a fine, creamy mousse. The style is bone-dry, red-fruited and citrusy, with a faint herbal edge and powdery texture rather than overt bubbles. It’s a brilliant aperitif or all-day brunch bottle – smashable but still serious in its precision.

Tasting Note

Pale copper with a gentle spritz, showing wild strawberry, blood orange, grapefruit zest and dried herbs. The palate is super fresh and linear, with crunchy red fruit, salty citrus and a bone-dry, chalky finish.

In the glass

Hazy pale salmon with a fine, naturally frothy bead.

In the nose

Sour cherry, wild strawberry, pink grapefruit, wet stone and a light herbal lift.

On the palate

Bone-dry, crisp and zesty; red berries and citrus pith over a salty, slightly phenolic, very refreshing finish.

Familia Nin Ortiz

Família Nin-Ortiz farms steep, high-altitude vineyards in Priorat biodynamically, focusing on old-vine Garnacha and Carinyena. The wines are intense yet incredibly detailed, with pure fruit, wild herbs and a striking mineral core from their slate and clay soils. They are among the most refined, terroir-driven expressions of modern Priorat.
