About this wine

La Rodeda comes from a tiny, high-altitude Garnatxa parcel discovered and planted by Ester Nin and Carles Ortiz in Porrera. Farmed biodynamically on steep llicorella terraces, it typically gives lighter colour, very bright acidity and a distinct mix of red fruit and wild garrigue. Fermentation is with whole bunches and indigenous yeasts; ageing is in large, neutral foudres so the wine stays pure and chiselled. The 2023 is all about lifted red berry fruit, crushed rock and herbal spice, with a serious but refined tannin backbone.

Tasting Note

Luminous red berry and pomegranate, wild strawberry, dried rose and Mediterranean herbs; the palate is taut and linear with saline grip and a long, stony finish.

Medium translucent ruby.

In the nose

Redcurrant, pomegranate, rose petal, thyme, crushed slate and a hint of white pepper.

On the palate

Juicy yet tight, with tangy red fruit, savoury herbs, fine chalky tannins and a cool, mineral, mouth-watering finish.
