About this wine

Mas d’en Caçador is a 1.5-ha, terraced parcel in Porrera, among the highest in Priorat, planted ~80 years ago to Garnatxa (≈60%) and Carinyena (≈40%). Biodynamic farming, very low yields and whole-cluster fermentation give a wine of enormous depth yet remarkable finesse: black fruits, blue flowers, incense, exotic spice and penetrating llicorella minerality. Ageing takes place in large Stockinger foudres and concrete to avoid overt oak, allowing the site’s cool, vertical character to shine. The 2023 is another profound, ageworthy Mas d’en Caçador, but with slightly fresher, more red-fruited lift.

Tasting Note

Deeply coloured with intense black and blue fruits, violets, licorice and warm spices; the palate is powerful yet refined, with very fine, long-chained tannins and a seemingly endless, slate-charged finish.

In the glass

Opaque ruby-purple.

In the nose

Black cherry, mulberry, violets, incense, black tea, anise and warm, ferrous mineral notes.

On the palate

Dense but not heavy; layers of dark berry, cocoa, spice and savoury herbs, framed by very fine, assertive tannins and a long, resonant, salty-mineral aftertaste.

Familia Nin Ortiz

Família Nin-Ortiz farms steep, high-altitude vineyards in Priorat biodynamically, focusing on old-vine Garnacha and Carinyena. The wines are intense yet incredibly detailed, with pure fruit, wild herbs and a striking mineral core from their slate and clay soils. They are among the most refined, terroir-driven expressions of modern Priorat.
