About this wine

Poggio al Vento is Col d’Orcia’s top single-vineyard Brunello, made only in the best years and fully organic. The 2015 is deep and seductive, with black cherry and berry fruit, ginger, leather, tobacco, licorice and grilled herbs. The palate is full-bodied and velvety but also fresh and firmly structured, with ripe tannins and a very long, layered finish. A reference-level Riserva for serious cellars.

Tasting Note

Wine Advocate describes an open-knit, full-bodied Brunello with ripe, rich fruit framed by emerging tertiary notes of tobacco and cured leather, plus cola, licorice and rosemary, all supported by powerful yet balanced tannins.

In the glass

Deep, dark ruby tending toward garnet.

In the nose

Black cherry and plum, dried berries, tobacco, leather, ginger, licorice and warm spice.

On the palate

Full, dense and velvety, with rich dark fruit, savory spice, powerful tannins and a long, complex finish.
