About this wine

Parafada is one of Palladino’s flagship crus, producing Barolo of depth and power. The 2021 vintage delivers a compact, youthful wine with dense red and black fruits, hints of tar, graphite and balsam. Tannins are abundant but fine-grained, wrapped around a juicy, savoury core. This is a Barolo that will reward patience and easily age for two decades.

Tasting Note

James Suckling describes the 2021 Parafada as an intense, multilayered Barolo with graphite, red fruits and firm tannins.

In the glass

Opaque garnet with a compact rim.

In the nose

Graphite, dark cherry, plum, licorice and crushed rose petals.

On the palate

Full-bodied, layered fruit, powerful but refined tannins and a long, mineral-driven finish.

Palladino

Palladino is a traditional estate in Serralunga known for honest, classically structured Barolo. Farming historic crus such as San Bernardo and Ornato, they produce wines with depth, iron-tinged minerality and firm yet noble tannins. Their Barbera, Nebbiolo and whites show the same straightforward, terroir-first philosophy.
