About this wine

This village Chassagne-Montrachet comes from several parcels around the commune and is crafted in the same careful way as Philippe Colin’s premiers crus. The 2023 offers aromas of citrus, ripe pear and white flowers with hints of hazelnut and buttered toast. The palate is medium-bodied and gently creamy with good cut and a chalky, refreshing finish. It’s a versatile bottle that will shine with roast chicken, salmon, shellfish or rich vegetable gratins over the next 5–8 years.

Tasting Note

A strikingly fresh nose combines notes of petrol and apple with those of spicy citrus and rosemary oil wisps. I very much like the texture of the sappy medium weight flavors that possess a lovely sense of vibrancy that also suffuses the attractively dry and sneaky long finale. This balanced effort is lovely and while it could use better depth, that should just be a matter of exercising some patience.

In the glass

Pale to medium lemon.

In the nose

Lemon and lime, pear, white blossom, a touch of hazelnut and subtle oak.

On the palate

Medium-bodied, rounded and fresh, with citrus and stone fruit over a light creamy texture and a gently saline, chalky finish.

Philippe Colin

Philippe Colin’s estate, born from the division of the Colin-Deléger domaine, focuses on Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay and neighbouring villages. His whites are clean, modern and precise, with well-judged use of oak and an emphasis on freshness and aromatic clarity. From Bourgogne Chardonnay to premier crus and the rare Chevalier-Montrachet, the wines offer a polished, accessible expression of Côte de Beaune terroir with enough depth to reward a few years in the cellar.
