About this wine

From the high, windswept Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru, this wine regularly shows grand cru scale without heaviness. The 2023 (in line with recent vintages) offers complex aromas of citrus oil, white peach, ripe pear, smoke and crushed stones, with beautifully integrated oak. The palate is dense and layered with a core of ripe fruit supported by searing acidity and profound mineral depth, giving a very long, saline finish. This is a wine for the cellar and for the table; decant young or give it 10–20 years to fully blossom.

Tasting Note

Morris allocates a very high score (mid-90s) to the 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet, emphasising its concentration, tension and saline, rock-inflected finish, calling it one of the domaine’s top wines.

In the glass

Medium lemon-gold, with notable viscosity.

In the nose

Lemon oil, grapefruit, white peach, ripe pear, smoked stone, hazelnut and fine oak spice.

On the palate

Full-bodied and very concentrated yet incredibly tense, with layered fruit, powerful minerality and a very long, saline, mouth-watering finish.

Philippe Colin

Philippe Colin’s estate, born from the division of the Colin-Deléger domaine, focuses on Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay and neighbouring villages. His whites are clean, modern and precise, with well-judged use of oak and an emphasis on freshness and aromatic clarity. From Bourgogne Chardonnay to premier crus and the rare Chevalier-Montrachet, the wines offer a polished, accessible expression of Côte de Beaune terroir with enough depth to reward a few years in the cellar.
