About this wine

This Nebbiolo comes from younger vines on fatter clay-sandy soils around Neive, rather than from the estate’s top cru parcels. The cellar work is traditional: controlled-temperature fermentation and maceration in steel followed by ageing in large wood and some bottle rest before release. That makes the wine floral, spicy and accessible sooner than the Barbarescos, while still staying recognisably Nebbiolo.

Tasting Note

An easygoing but characterful wine, with ripe raspberry, baking spice and a gentle cola note.

In the glass

Garnet red.

In the nose

Rose, cherry, plum and spice.

On the palate

Fresh and lively, with accessible fruit, balanced tannins and earlier drinkability than Barbaresco.

Piero Busso

Piero Busso is a family estate in Neive, Barbaresco, with around 10 hectares of vines and a clear focus on Nebbiolo. The Busso family works organically and produces wines from important sites including Albesani, Gallina and San Stunet. The style is traditional in structure but very refined in expression: fragrant, precise Barbaresco with floral aromatics, polished tannins and a strong sense of vineyard identity.

Vinification

Nebbiolo from younger vines in Neive is fermented and macerated in temperature-controlled stainless steel at about 28–30°C, then aged in large wooden casks and given a few months of bottle ageing before release.
